The ability to link records, issues and feedback within RequirementONE gives you a powerful tool for managing dependencies and related items. There are two different types of linking for the data entities - Implicit and Explicit.
Implicit linking
You can copy and paste a link to an entity in the details or note field for a record, task or issue. This link will automatically be hyperlinked when saved.

All data records and even searches have unique URLs (deep links) in RequirementONE so you can reference any data implicitly.
This type of linking is supported between projects and can of course also be used externally in places such as emails and browser bookmarks.
Explicit linking
Internal links
Explicit Internal linking is a recorded dependency within a single project between two entities - an example being a parent / child relationship between two records, between a record and an issue or between a record and some feedback.
You can create Explicit internal links (parent, child, sibling) between records by following these steps:
- Click on one of your Documents
- Click on the name of one of the records
- Scroll down to the "Links" section and click on the + NEW REQUIREMENT LINK button
- Use the filter to search for the requirement(s) you want to link to, and specify whether that record is a parent, child or sibling of the current record.
External links
Explicit external linking is a formal Implicit link. It is a recorded dependency between two entities which may be in different projects or indeed in different systems.
You can create Explicit external links between records by following these steps:
- Click on one of your Documents
- Click on the name of one of the records
- Scroll down to the "External Links" section and click on the + NEW EXTERNAL LINK button
- Enter the URL of the external link as well as a description.
